Join these creative online photography classes for home-educated children and help them discover a fresh way to see the world through a lens. Whether they're using a smartphone, a tablet, or a simple point-and-shoot camera, these sessions are designed to be accessible for everyone – no fancy gear is required to get started.
Each weekly workshop is packed with hands-on projects that go far beyond just pressing a button. Kids will explore the fundamentals of photography through a playful mix of camera-based activities and tactile crafts. From understanding how light works to experimenting with alternative processes and story-telling, the sessions are designed to be low-pressure and full of joy.
The structure of the classes ensures that students stay engaged with a variety of exciting themes:
  • Seeing like a photographer – help them find beauty in the everyday.
  • Light is everything – understand the magic of shadows and highlights.
  • Telling a story – use images to share a unique narrative.
  • Stop motion animation – bring still objects to life through movement.

  • Getting in close – discover the tiny details of the world.
  • Make a mini studio – set up a professional space at home.
  • Photos into art – turn prints into beautiful handmade projects.
  • Perfect portraits – learn the best ways to capture friends and family.
Guided by an award-winning photographer, children will be encouraged to share their work in a supportive environment, receiving warm feedback that builds their confidence. They'll finish the course with a new-found sense of creative independence and a digital certificate for each workshop completed, leaving them with a wonderful collection of images and the skills to turn everyday moments into something truly extraordinary.

  • Seeing Like a Photographer: Camera or smartphone/tablet with camera
  • Light is Everything: Camera or smartphone/tablet with camera, torch, pencil and paper, small toy/object
  • Telling a Story: Camera or smartphone/tablet with camera, small toys or objects
  • Stop Motion Animation: Camera or smartphone/tablet with camera, tripod, toys and materials to animate
  • Painting With Light: Camera or smartphone/tablet with camera, tripod, at least one torch, but it's fun to experiment with different light sources
  • Sun Printing: Cyanotype kit available as an add-on to the workshop
  • Getting in Close: Camera or smartphone/tablet with camera
  • Make a Mini Studio: Camera or smartphone/tablet with camera, 6 sheets of white A3 craft card, self-adhesive Velcro, scissors, cello tape, and a variety of papers for backdrops, small items to photograph
  • Photos into Art: Variety of own photos and/or magazine cuttings, card, scissors, glue, range of art materials such as paint, felt tips, papers, and haberdashery
  • Perfect Portraits: Camera or smartphone/tablet with camera, a model (this could be a pet, friend or family member, or a doll or toy with a face)

Jacy is a passionate photographer who has her Masters degree in the subject and is an associate of the Royal Photographic society. She has also won awards for her real estate photography and been shortlisted in the self portrait category of the British Photography Awards two years in a row. Having taught after school photography clubs and summer camps, Jacy is keen to share her knowledge and skills with others to use photography as not just a hobby, but a therapy and way of creating art… or just having a lot of fun.
